Good Grief is a group of friends, filmmakers and photographers making films about food and drink on the Isle of Wight. This page explains what we know about you when you use goodgrief.cool, why we keep it, and how to get it deleted. We’d rather be eating than writing this, so it’s short.
Questions, or want something deleted? Email us at hello@goodgrief.cool.
The short version
- We keep what you give us, like your email address when you join a list, plus the basic visit records every website keeps.
- We only use your details for the thing you signed up for.
- We never sell your details or pass them on for anyone else’s marketing.
- Ask us any time and we’ll delete them.
What we keep and why
The Local Guide waiting list
When you join the waiting list, we save your email address and the date you joined, and nothing else. You asked us to tell you when the guide opens, so we’ll send you one email when it does. The list sits on our own web server, not with a mailing company. Once that email has gone out, we delete the list.
Our newsletter and the Cook along with Kev list
If you’ve signed up for our newsletter, entered one of our competitions or joined the Cook along with Kev waiting list, we keep your name and email address so we can send you the emails you asked for. These lists are kept by Brevo, the email service we use. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Local Guide members
If you join the Local Guide as a member, we keep your name, email address, member number and the date your membership ends. We need these to run your membership.
To sign in, we email you a code that only works for 10 minutes. Your phone then remembers you’re signed in for up to 90 days. When a partner scans your member card for an offer, we note your member number, the date and whether the card was valid, so we can see which offers get used.
We keep your account while you’re a member. If you leave, ask us and we’ll delete it.
Keeping the site running and safe
Like every website, our web host keeps short-term records of visits, such as your IP address and the type of browser you use. These help keep the site working and stop attacks. Our security tool also records the IP address of anyone who fails to log in to the site’s admin pages.
Cookies and other companies’ content
We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies, and we don’t run Google Analytics. A few things on our pages do come from other companies:
- Our fonts come from Google Fonts and our video thumbnails come from YouTube, so Google can see your IP address when your browser loads them.
- Our films only start loading from YouTube when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
- The Cook along with Kev sign-up form is run by Brevo, our email service, and loads from their servers.
- The map in the Local Guide comes from OpenFreeMap, which sees your IP address when it sends the map to your phone.
Who else handles your details
- Hostinger, our web host, stores the website, the waiting list and member accounts.
- Brevo, our email service, stores our newsletter lists and sends those emails.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop emailing you
Email hello@goodgrief.cool. We’ll reply within a month, and usually much sooner.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change how we use your details, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
